Hello everyone,

Welcome to this week's WNIE newsletter.

On a much needed positive note, UK factories have returned to growth this month, as the Covid-19 recession eases.  The ‘flash’ manufacturing PMI, which tracks activity across the sector, has jumped to 50.1 this month from 40.7 in May. Crucially, that’s just above 50-point mark showing stagnation. It's also being reported that the easing of lockdown measures in recent weeks has helped staff to return to work, with operations resuming in a number of sectors and staff returning from furlough.

We hope that these green shoots of recovery post pandemic will continue to sprout and will contribute to an improved global picture for industry.

In other news, the MTC (Manufacturing Technology Centre) has developed the first stage of Europe’s first smart factory demonstrator for the manufacture of electronic assemblies; this will mean any electronics manufacturing business is able now to trial and experience digital technologies in a risk-free environment, without disrupting day-to-day production. The full release is linked below.

Don't forget also that Avnet & CaluQuote host a free webinar tomorrow exploring how data is moving the EMS industry forward. You can register here

Until then, keep safe and best regards,
