With the COVID 19 crisis still having a massive impact on industry throughout the globe, it's becoming clear that electronics manufacturing will be forced to innovate rapidly in order to survive.
 Wednesday 20th May 2020

Hello everyone,

Welcome to this week's WNIE newsletter.

As lockdown restrictions are being gradually relaxed in certain countries, thoughts turn to life and industry returning to a 'new normal' at some point in the future.

The electronics industry is made up of a large proportion of SMEs - in many cases founded by entrepreneurs - accounting for nearly a third of the electronics industry's revenue.

For these smaller businesses affected by Coronavirus, reductions in sales, cashflow and supply chain disruption are key concerns.

With SMEs accounting for roughly two-thirds of overall employment throughout the EU, and contributing more than 55% of the value to the economy, it's obvious that supporting the survival of SMEs is crucial for mitigating the economic impact, as well as sustaining employment and creating the conditions needed for future growth, once the pandemic is over.

I'll be speaking to a company this week about their contribution to supporting fellow businesses by providing free engineering support - so do look out for that.
